Criminal Justice

Bachelor of Science

The Criminal Justice program recognizes the current, increasing need for greater technical competence and professionalism nationally and internationally within the criminal justice field. This program is offered online in accelerated 8-week sessions. Graduates of the program are prepared to fill positions in the growing field of criminal justice by choosing one of two tracks, including:

The Law Enforcement track: provides students with the necessary skills for successful careers in both police and investigative work at the federal, state, and local levels of government, in public and private sector jobs in corrections facilities, in homeland security, and in protective services

The Social Service track: prepares students for non-law enforcement occupations in the area of social services and careers in such areas as child protective and family preservation services, juvenile justice, substance abuse, and behavioral disorders

Both tracks entail a capstone course which requires students to synthesize the information and insights from the criminal justice curriculum to complete a major project or paper relating to a topic of special interest. Students also have the option to further their education through the University’s BS to MS program.
